Professional ProfilesEnvironmental Consultant
In today's world, it is important to act sustainably and find environmentally friendly alternatives. Environmental consultants do exactly that: they propose environmentally friendly ways to improve the living conditions of humans and animals, for example in the context of construction projects. They also analyse the cause of environmental problems, develop solutions in the areas of environmental planning as well as environmental, nature conservation and health protection, and advise companies and consumers on environmental issues.
Environmental scientists work in offices, as well as outdoors, alone and in a team. They typically work in architectural firms, research institutions or in public administration. These experts are also needed in the most diverse economic sectors, such as supply and disposal, or raw material extraction.
A five-year environmental science degree must usually be completed for entry into the profession. Entry to a higher grade career in public administration is only possible with a Master's degree.
