Professional ProfilesInterpreter
Their passion is language: interpreters are translators who translate from a source language into a target language in both directions. Their objective is to overcome language barriers between two or more people and to guarantee a meaningful, complete interpretation of what has been said.
It goes without saying that in addition to having excellent language skills, you need to have a high degree of concentration.
Interpreters work mainly for translation agencies and interpreting services. Various EU institutions, such as the European Parliament and the EU Commission, also rely on translators and interpreters.
To become an interpreter you need to complete a five-year Master degree study course in Translation & Interpreting. Unfortunately, such a course is not available in Luxembourg, so that you would have to study abroad. In order to work as a sworn interpreter after graduating, you need approval from the Ministry of Justice.
